Working Call God
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 12: 12-20
"But God has given to the members, each one in particular, a place on the body, such as He wills." (1 Corinthians 12:18)
Working call God
In the Bible passage above, Paul states that every believer, whatever our background, the members that make up the body, the body of Christ (verse. 13). Being a member of the body of Christ, meaning whoever we are, whatever our job, and whatever our background, we all have an important role in the body of Christ.
If we look at the human physical body, we can see that the body is composed of members of the body, namely the head, arms, torso, and legs. Furthermore, the head was apparently compiled by members of the smaller such as hair, eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. Similarly, if we pull up to the smallest member of the size of the cell. Body composed of millions and even billions of cells from the red blood cells, white blood cells, nerve cells, brain cells, skin cells, and others. Even so, all the members in our bodies each have a unique role and is useful for the body.
Like the human body, the body of Christ was made up of many members, including you and me. And we also know that every member is important and valuable in the eyes of God. All have different functions. Just as members of the human body have different functions but still support the body functions as a whole, as well as members of the body of Christ. In verse 27 through verse 30, Paul describes that in supporting the work of the Lord, the Lord has established several member functions, namely as apostles, prophets, teachers, people who have the gift of miracles, to heal, to serve, to lead, and to say -said in tongues (verse. 28-30). This means that we as every believer has an important function and role in the body of Christ.
Problems are often encountered is when we are not aware whether we function in the body of Christ. Most people look at the position of pastor is a very powerful position in the body of Christ. Yes, it is true, being a pastor is very good, but do we really truly are called to be a pastor? I'm afraid if there are people who "impose" itself as a pastor but actually call that person not as a pastor. On the other hand, it is also unfortunate when someone actually called to be a pastor, but he refused to meet the call for various reasons.
I write this not mean that I do not agree all the people become pastors. I understand that in the last days of this harvest is increasing, but the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37). And the church was in need of workers for the harvest in these last days. But back again to the passage we read earlier, that in serving the Lord, we need God's wisdom to understand what exactly is God's call. Is God calling us to be a preacher? Be good preacher. Is God calling us to be a worship leader? Be a good worship leader. Is God calling us into prayer? Be a good prayer. Whatever we call, do it as well as possible.
In 1 Corinthians 3: 6 says that "I (Paul) planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase." Paul realized that as his role as a preacher need others to continue what he has done. And Paul is not concerned about who the person whose job is to "flush what Paul had planted the church in Corinth". For him, the important thing he has been working on his calling as a member of the body of Christ. What about us? Have we call God's work in our lives? Is God's calling for your life? As a pastor then? As the prayer then? Or in other services? Work is in accordance with the talents that God has given us. I also realized that the Lord does not give me a good sound to preach or sing. Through what I feel, God gave me a little edge in writing something, and from this moment I am trying to write and share a bit of the Word of God to you through these writings, and I hope that my writing will be useful for some of you who read. And so I hope you understand and I still call us, and do not neglect the call of God because the Bible states that "cursed people who carry out the work of the Lord with negligent." (Jer 48: 10a)
Bible Reading: 1 Cor 12: 12-20
12:12 For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members, though many, are one body, so also is Christ.
12:13 For in one Spirit we were all, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, baptized into one body, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.
12:15 If the foot says, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?
12:16 And if the ear says, "Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?
12:17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole is ear, where would the sense of smell?
12:18 But God has given to the members, each one in particular, a place on the body, such as He wills.
12:19 If they were all one member, where were the body?
12:20 So there are many members, yet one body.
